Georgia Institute of Technology stripes

    How It Works::::::
1. The Academic Advising Certificate Program is open to all Georgia Tech employees.

2. The Academic Advising Certificate Program is a 3-level certificate program. For every seven GTAAN-sponsored meetings or trainings attended, the participant completes a level of the certificate program.

3. Each level of the certificate program is called a belt. The first level is a white belt. The second level is a gold belt. The third level is a black belt.

4. All GTAAN-sponsored meetings and trainings count towards the certificate program, regardless of time of year or duration of event. All GTAAN-sponsored events equal one attendance, with the exception of Best Practices, which counts as two attendances.

5. The certificate program functions on the honor system. At the beginning of each GTAAN-sponsored event participants sign their names in the certificate attendance binder, in which each participant will have his or her own page tracking individual attendance.

6. At the completion of each belt, participants will receive a certificate designating the level completion. The participant will be recognized at the next GTAAN meeting. A copy of the certificate and a letter explaining the program will be sent to each participant's supervisor upon completion of each level. This is to reinforce the important of advising training and professional development and to recognize the advisor for his or her accomplishment.

7. The President or President-Elect will oversee the Academic Advising Certificate Program and may develop a committee to coordinate the program.
